Today's post is more than just another product review. There are a million of those out there. This new series that I will be publishing once a month is a series intended to give my favorite product recommendations for a mom who lives traditionally in a modern world. I appreciate efficient, affordable, lasting products that enhance the home environment and aid me in my work to raise intelligent, virtuous children and create a beautiful home. Graceful Motherhood Requires Versatility
I never knew that letting go of control would be so difficult when I became a mother. Before I had children, I had dreams of being a graceful, joyful woman who was there to perfectly fulfill her child's every need. What's more, I wanted not only to perfectly fulfill their needs, but to anticipate them as well, so that I would be ready with a solution anytime a problem arose. Was I trying to be their God? Was I kicking Him out of the picture? Perhaps. Either way, I quickly lea

Music for Little Minds
"I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning." — Plato Oh, the power of music! Music played a huge part of growing up in our house... no pun intended.😂 My earliest musical memories are of my dad singing. He had a wonderful voice and could do impressive impersonations of various tunes by Chicago, the Righteous Brothers, and Neil Diamond, just to name a few... I believe t

My Favorite Book Series for Early Readers
In our family, we LOVE LOVE LOVE books. Very often, you will find all of us together in the living room drinking tea, as my husband reads aloud. Our current read aloud is Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings . It is such great fun! My husband and I go to great lengths to find books that are well-made, well written, fun to read and wonderful to view. This morning my toddler and I were curled up on the couch with a pile of his favorite books, at least, his favorite at the moment...

#1 Rule for Raising Awesome Kiddos
How many times a day does your child ask for help to do something? How many times a day do you jump to assist your child when you think they need help? These are very, VERY important questions to know the answers to if you want to raise capable, independent children. When I first became a parent, I was often afraid of my child getting hurt, and I definitely assisted them with more things than I should have... I was a bit of a control freak, I admit. Then, I stumbled upon a wo

A Few School Room Must-Haves
Today I wanted to share a few of my favorite items for the schoolroom. I must admit that I have the tendencies of the "teacher type" and experience great excitement every fall when it is time to buy new pencils and paper. Even more than that, I love a functional, beautiful, well-organized space. I have also found that when I provide this type of space to my children, they thrive as well. We all know how expensive things are these days and how difficult it is to find quality i

The Best Climbing Toy
In a previous article, I wrote about the importance of climbing and how great it is, not only for a child's physical development, but also for their cognitive development. If you are interested in reading that article, it can be found here . Today, I want to write about our favorite climbing toy. The climbing dome. My mother-in-law bought this for us when my eldest was two-years-old. It has survived the past six years and a move from one house to another. My children play on

The Power of Reading
I am a homeschooling mother of five children, and I love it! For most of my education, I was home-schooled, so as a "second-generation homeschooler," I have a blast repeating things that my mother did, and I also enjoy finding new methods and resources. There are so many fantastic resources out there these days! I have been asked many times what subjects I prioritize, and my answer is always reading, reading, and more reading. Of course, there are many other subjects that are
