My Favorite Book Series for Early Readers

In our family, we LOVE LOVE LOVE books. Very often, you will find all of us together in the living room drinking tea, as my husband reads aloud. Our current read aloud is Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. It is such great fun!

My husband and I go to great lengths to find books that are well-made, well written, fun to read and wonderful to view. This morning my toddler and I were curled up on the couch with a pile of his favorite books, at least, his favorite at the moment...

They were the Usborne Phonics Readers.

I have so much fun reading the set that we own. This link will show you the exact set of books that I bought: https://amzn.to/4pnH8uq

Although I know that Usborne has many other options for phonics readers. I have never been disappointed with the Usborne books and I have purchased several of them. All of my children, ages seven and below enjoy looking at and reading these books. I also think these are excellent books for beginning readers to practice reading aloud.

Teaching a child how to read can be a daunting task, especially if you have never taught anybody to read before. I believe it is very important to have books around that both you and your children enjoy. Otherwise, you may never read them, or you may not be reading books as often as you should. I think that having great books around the house is one of the reasons that all of my children love to read so much.

The program that I use to teach my children to read is All About Reading. I cannot say enough good things about this program! A blog post on that later perhaps... In my opinion, the Usborne Phonics Readers complement this program a great deal. They have helped to motivate my children to improve their reading skills, and what more does a homeschooling mom want other than children with motivation to learn?😉
