The Best Climbing Toy

In a previous article, I wrote about the importance of climbing and how great it is, not only for a child's physical development, but also for their cognitive development. If you are interested in reading that article, it can be found here. Today, I want to write about our favorite climbing toy. The climbing dome. My mother-in-law bought this for us when my eldest was two-years-old. It has survived the past six years and a move from one house to another. My children play on this dome almost daily and that is no exaggeration. Several adults in the family have even enjoyed monkeying around a bit. It is a very well-built and sturdy product.

From the time my children turned one, they have been playing on the dome. At one-years-old, my babies will crawl up to the dome and learn to hang from one of the lower bars. By the time they are two-years-old, they learn to reach the top of the dome (parental attention is advised). My three-year-olds begin to hang on for minutes at a time, building incredible grip and core strength. At four-years-old, they use the dome like monkey bars and swing from one top bar to another. Then, once they reach five years of age, I have begun to see them hang up-side down. Very impressive... and a little terrifying. I would advise you to use caution and know the limits of your children. However, overall, you can just see the physical benefits of owning a climbing dome. Another thing that I have really enjoyed is watching my children solve problems on their own as they try to figure out how to accomplish a particular challenge they have set their mind to on the dome. The climbing dome has also been involved in countless games my children have played. From hanging contests to building obstacle courses, this dome has provided a myriad of activities for my children. Perhaps it's the next birthday or Christmas gift in your home? It is a great purchase and well worth the money!
