    A Few School Room Must-Haves

Today I wanted to share a few of my favorite items for the schoolroom. I must admit that I have the tendencies of the "teacher type" and experience great excitement every fall when it is time to buy new pencils and paper. Even more than that, I love a functional, beautiful, well-organized space. I have also found that when I provide this type of space to my children, they thrive as well. We all know how expensive things are these days and how difficult it is to find quality items, items that are durable enough for children. Well, I have found a few of those items...

The first couple of items are from Guidecraft. I really love this brand! I have found the products from Guidecraft to be functional, durable, and easy to assemble... this last one is important to me because I generally struggle with assembling things and oftentimes my husband has to correct my mistakes.😂

This item, https://amzn.to/3K8Jhui is a shelving unit for textbooks and all your school supplies. I really love the blending of shelves and drawers, providing a place for everything school related. I also think that the height is fantastic because I am a fan of making things in the home accessible to children so that they are able to help themselves whenever possible.

This second item, https://amzn.to/4mtglKU is a book display unit with a few drawers as well. The first time I saw one of these bookcases was in a Montessori classroom. I love it because it displays the books in a beautiful way and my children are drawn to read more when books are displayed this way. Along with my toy rotation system, I also rotate books so that my children get their book variety.

The quintessential classroom item: A Globe of the World. https://amzn.to/46ivs59

I think that it is important for every classroom to have a globe, be it at home or in a school classroom. My kids and I are constantly pulling the globe down. Whether we are learning about the ancient Romans in history, or learning about the European mountain ranges in geography, my children love to see the relevant locations on the globe. Besides, aren't globes lovely? I think so. I like this particular globe because I wanted a globe that was nice to look at, but not too expensive, as I knew my children would be handling it quite a bit.

This last item may seem a little random, but I really think that it is a must-have in the classroom. It is an abacus. https://amzn.to/4gHrMgS

In our home, the abacus has been used over and over. In my opinion, it is the best hands-on manipulative for teaching mathematics, and it is also my toddler's entertainment while I work with an older child. My baby even loves it! It will keep him occupied for at least fifteen minutes at a time. A busy mother can appreciate that! Furthermore, Melissa & Doug products have always been great; they are well-made and affordable. I have yet to be disappointed with something that I have purchased from them.

Hopefully, these suggestions help to build a classroom that is fun and beautiful to be in!
