    Strong Mom = Stronger Family

Do you want to go workout? It's nap time—the first time you have had a quiet moment all day. No, you do not feel like working out. You are exhausted! Besides, isn't chasing and carrying toddlers around all day a workout already? Motherhood is physically demanding. That is true; however, it is not the type of movement that your body needs to build muscle, strengthen your core and improve your mental health. You might not want to hear that, but you need a workout! I love getting my workout in before the kids wake in the morning. But, if that is not you, and you would rather do it during nap time, then, lay down and close your eyes for ten minutes and then jump up with the determination that you are going to make yourself a better version of yourself. When I had my first couple of kids, I gained a lot of weight, I was unhealthy and exhausted. Somewhere between kid #2 and kid #3, I decided that I wanted to be the kind of mom who could run and chase her kids in the park and not just sit on the sidelines while they had all the fun...

So here is what I did. I bought some gym equipment and found a corner in the house where I would complete my workouts, and then I researched the best calisthenics workout program for beginners.

Here is the big secret to fitness:

Consistency in working out is more important

than the actual workout program you choose!

So choose something that you know that you will stick to in the long term. Also, choose a program that has some sort of core building exercises. Maybe all you commit to is a 15-minute routine, and maybe you do that just 3 times a week. That is great! Do that!

Finally, BE PATIENT! When I started getting back into my workout routine, I was depressed at how slowly the body changed. But, it does eventually change! We just have to be patient. Positive changes to the body seem to come slowly, especially for women. Love your body, be grateful for the health you do have and stay committed to becoming a better you. If you do this, a year from now you will be thanking me; more importantly, a year from now your family will be thanking you. Believe that you can become the mom that you dream of being!
