Are you thinking about homeschooling your children? Is homeschooling new to you? Are you intimidated by all the responsibilities that come with being a homeschooling parent? Well, I beg of you, do not be intimidated. A parent is the first educator of his child. If a parent has a decent amount of desire, puts in some good effort and works hard, then there is a high possibility that their child will have a better education than what most schools offer today. Also, with the amazing and endless resources in the 21st century, homeschooling can be an epic adventure in which you and your child can live your best lives! Here is a book recommendation for those brave souls willing to have a little more freedom from the system and to educate their children well.

Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum by Laura Berquist
When beginning to homeschool her children back in the 90s, my mother did not find many available resources for homeschool parents. This book was and is a very popular tool for parents who are looking for a resource that offers guidance and recommendations in all areas of a complete classical education. This book is rich with information and has an abundance of literature recommendations. The author, Laura Berquist assembled the tools to give homeschoolers the ability to create their own K-12 education that is based on a liberal arts curriculum. It is accessible and easy to use for anyone! My mother successfully homeschooled eight children using this book as her main guide. It is still the book that she recommends to beginning or struggling homeschoolers looking for reinforcement on their schooling journey!
Also, you may note that the author is Catholic and has given religious resources in the book. But, many others who are not Catholic, have found this to be an excellent resource due to the time-tested aspect of a true classical education.
