    April's Favorite

I am a mom who lives traditionally in this modern world. I appreciate efficient, affordable, lasting products that enhance the home environment and aid me in my work to raise intelligent, virtuous children and create a beautiful home. As a wife and mother who desires to uphold an atmosphere of peace, joy and learning, I love finding pieces that make this possible.

In our home. Sunday is a day that is set aside for two things: God and family. I have made it a habit to properly prepare for Sunday during the week in order that all cooking, cleaning and other duties can be set aside on that day. And oh how Sunday refreshes me!! My children also look forward to Sunday and enjoy helping me plan for it throughout the week. They know Sunday as a day for church, treats and family game night. Usually, after dinner we will clean up, make tea, put on a little music and pick a family game. Currently, with my children being so little, we are limited to the games that we can choose, but we have found some awesome options! These three games are our family favorites from this past year. Everyone in my family has a blast with these games, from my husband and I all the way down to our 3-year-old!

    Charades. A classic.

Personally, I love to play charades! It is a game with a quick and easy setup and gets my whole family laughing hysterically. My kids not only love the game, but have become really competitive with it. They now insist on playing boys versus girls and writing our own charades for the other team to act out. It is such great fun! Here is the game at Rainbow Resources that I started my kids out on: Charades for Kids.

I really like this game because each card gives you several different options, ranking from easy to difficult. If your child cannot read yet, each card has a picture on the card for the little actor to imitate. It may seem silly, but I have noticed that this game has improved my kids' communication skills, especially a few of the younger children. I always love a game that can bring fun and joy to the family plus a little education!

    Eye Fount It

Now, keep in mind that I am the kind of person who wants to enjoy the game that I am playing with my children, and not just suffer through it for the sake of quality time... selfish person that I am!😂 If you do that, I am not saying that is a bad thing, it is just not me. This next game is a game that my entire family loves to play! My girls and I will often choose to play this card game during our Tuesday night girls night.

It may take younger children a little while to get the hang of it. However, since my older girls know the cards so well and are lightening fast at calling out answers, we will pair the youngest boys with some of the older people and play in teams.

Here is the exact version of the game we have at Walmart: Eye Found It.

The cards in this game have bright illustrations and are really enjoyable to look at, especially if the older Disney was a part of your upbringing.

    Pick Up Sticks

Pick Up Sticks is the current family favorite. Actually, my kids have been practicing throughout the week so they can beat mom and dad come Sunday... and they have been doing a phenomenal job at that! Even my 3-year-old is freakishly good at this game. Last Sunday, my husband and I were beaten so badly by ALL of our children, and I was actually trying really hard! This is such an entertaining family game! I also love that it is an opportunity for my little ones to work on their fine motor skills. The version we have is one that came with a family chess set, but this is the version that I am currently looking at purchasing because our current sticks are a tad bent and worn. Target: Pick Up Sticks.

Add a family game night to your calendar, pick a fun game to play and thank me later!!
