    Raw Milk Yogurt Recipe

Oh, the taste of raw milk! So divine! We have been buying raw milk from a local farmer for the past three years, and it is literally my family's favorite food item. We LOVE milk! Even my husband, who has struggled with lactose intolerance, has been able to drink it regularly without a problem. If you have not read up on the benefits of raw milk you can read about it in this campaign for raw milk here: https://www.westonaprice.org/wp-content/uploads/RealMilkBrochure.pdf

As you can imagine, one of our next favorite foods is yogurt made from raw milk. Here is my mother's recipe:

    ree

    Ready in 7ish

    Makes about 1/2 Gallon

(You can cut the recipe in half if you want less, but we love yogurt!)

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 Gallon Raw Milk

    • 1 cup of yogurt (High quality store-bought yogurt)

    • Optional: honey or maple syrup for sweetening

    Preparation

    1. Place the milk in a pan over medium heat and stir continuously until the milk reaches 180°. You must stir continuously otherwise the milk can burn on the bottom of the pan.

    2. Once the milk reaches 180°, turn it off and wait until it reaches 110°, then blend it with the yogurt.

    3. Pour the mixture into glass containers and place in a warm water bath (that stays at about 110°) for 6 hours.

    4. If desired, add sweetener, cool and refrigerate.

    Tips

    1. Enjoy!

    2. One of our favorite flavors is cherry vanilla. Once the yogurt is made, add 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of black cherry juice and 1-2 tsp of vanilla or vanilla bean paste. Of course, you can add many kinds of fruit flavors by adding a little juice, or add whole fruit for the full health benefits!
