    Mom's Winter Spice Tea

    Updated: Dec 31, 2025

I love wintertime. I love the falling snow, the sound of a burning fire and curling up on the couch with a warm blanket, not to mention it's beanie weather! A perfect time for a cozy cup of tea. This winter spice tea leaves you feeling regenerated and restored.

    Ready in 10ish minutes

    Serves 1 person

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 tsp of ground ginger (or freshly grated)

    • 1/4 tsp of ground clove

    • 1/4 tsp of ground nutmeg

    • 1/4 tsp of cardamom seeds

    • 3 cinnamon sticks

    • 1 star anise seed

    • 1ish tbsp of honey or maple syrup

    • 2 cups of water

    Preparation

    1. Boil 2 cups of water and the herbs into a reusable tea bag or infuser, breaking the cinnamon sticks up into pieces

    2. Pour the water into a cup with all of the herbs and steep the tea for ten minutes.

    3. Add the honey towards the end of steeping and enjoy!

    Tips

    1. If desired, you can add the ground herbs directly into the cup and put the rest of the herbs into a tea bag or strainer; this makes for a more potent cup of tea.

    2. I have also made this with milk instead of water for more of a chai-like drink. Just be sure not to bring the milk to a full boil. In a pot, add all of the spices to the milk and honey and keep on medium heat, or just until there is steam rising from the milk and it is simmering. Stir and keep it at this temperature for about five minutes. Then, strain and enjoy!
