    Ginger Lemon Tea

    Updated: Sep 11, 2025

Every family needs a "go-to" tea recipe during those cold winter months, especially when everyone starts to feel under the weather. This three-ingredient recipe is simple yet incredibly beneficial for your health. Lemons are a great source of vitamin C and a powerful antioxidant that strengthens the immune system. They also help the body fight off infections. Ginger has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties; it can also help soothe nausea and an upset stomach. Honey, too, has antioxidant properties and helps to soothe a sore throat. These three wonderful foods make up a fantastic tea to aid in sickness.

    Ready in 10ish minutes
    Serves 1 person

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup of boiling water

    • 1-2 drops of lemon essential oil or half of a lemon

    • 1 tsp of ginger powder or 2-3 slices of fresh ginger (about 1-inch slices)

    • 1 tbsp of honey

    Preparation

    1. Place the boiling water in a mug, along with all of the other ingredients.

    2. If using an actual lemon for your tea, squeeze half of a lemon into the water and place the rest of the lemon inside the cup as well.

    3. Steep, stir, and enjoy!

    Tips

    1. Essential oils can be toxic if used in excess, so make sure to use them in moderation. Hydration is also super important, when sick and when using essential oils, so drink your water!

    2. Ginger, cinnamon and turmeric are also fantastic additions to this tea. You may not like the flavor they produce, but they are powerful herbs with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial (cinnamon) benefits, just to name a few.
